Special Meeting/Workshop

  1. Convene: 2:50 p.m.
  2. Public Comments: None
  3. District Performance Objectives for FY07 - Board Discussion
Minutes: Dr. Johnson opened the session and stated that this meeting is in response to Board Members desire to make any revisions to the shell itself and keep it strictly about the instrument, as opposed to the performance and asked for input from Board Members.

Dr. Robinson suggested removing every reference to Level Two and Learning Gains Data and focus on proficiency.

Dr. Richmond questioned if there were any students who were not represented on this overall chart.

Dr. Johnson provided Board Members with statistics on recent gains.

Dr. Robinson asked for follow-up information on how learning gains are defined.

Mrs. Burdick questioned why the percent greater than Level Two was added to this chart if proficiency was the goal for 100% of students.

Dr. Johnson stated that he feels that Level Two being added is not as important as the reduction on Level One and Level Three.

Dr. Robinson stressed the importance of obtaining an operational definition of learning

Mr. Lynch suggested using more indicators: 60% gains and 40% budget, personnel and construction.

Mrs. Burdick does not agree that other departments need to be added to formula.

Dr. Robinson stated that she feels this instrument should be based on 100% student achievement.

Board Members were in consensus to leave the current instrument based on 100% student achievement and remove Level Two.

Mrs. Burdick requested including Level Four and Level Five.

Dr. Johnson will make the suggested revisions and bring back to Board Members at a later date.

Dr. Johnson entertained questions from Dr. Robinson regarding free and reduced lunch and closing the gap.
